Blog: Nationalist Group of Tweeple

It was a bright Sunday. It would have been a normal day for many and would have been special for many. But certainly for those ten children at Bharat Mata Bhavan, Chinchwad, Maharastra it was a special day. We all keep talking about how bad is Indian educational system. But one who is privileged to get good education from a better institution will never have an idea about how bad is our Education system.
Bharat Mata Bhavan can be called as an “Orphanage” or can also be called as a “Care Taker Home”. The place holds the children from North Eastern states that are deprived of education and also suffer from religious tensions. The place gives good food, best education and takes care of them even better than their parents. But still, it is a common factor that all these places manage to sail the children through the school education and takes a hit when it comes to college education. The economic aid comes as a major hurdle for this. I am a Law Student presently studying at Pune. My home town is Coimbatore and I migrated to Pune a year back. I got acquainted with Mr.Shiv Singh in twitter during a conversation related to Politics in India. Little did I know that God had something else in store for both us to achieve together. Once I reached Pune, I met Mr.Shiv Singh and encountered his quest and perseverance to serve the society.
After sometime I and Shiv started visiting few Orphanages in Pune and made an analysis about how we could help them with the best possible means. We finally short listed two places which needed help and suffered without sufficient funds mainly for higher education of children.
We finally decided that we should start collecting pool of funds which would be utilized for higher education of children from these orphanages. The best part is both of these places accommodated children from North Eastern states like Meghalaya and Nagaland where the social conditions are quiet difficult to live compared to the rest of India.
Meanwhile in the pilot process, Shiv mooted the idea of forming a Twitter group and to bring all the like-minded friends under single umbrella that would assist us in the process of improving the social condition of these two orphanages. Shiv finally proposed the informal group to be named “Nationalist Group of Tweeple”. We took up the task seriously. We realized that that our ultimate goal was to help people and touch lives; to fight for social causes. We started to associate with the Sixth Sense Foundation originated in Coimbatore.
When we shared this thought to people, many were encouraging. Since we were young cadre, we thought it would be a wise move to involve some wise men in the team so that we would get their point of views and support. It is tough to believe that people who participate in this mission never know each other. Most of us are online friends who have never seen each other nor never know personally even the place of living. But what kept us bonded is the common purpose we all shared. “Who you are is who you attract”. We got the meaning for this statement. The journeys lead us to a Breakdown from which we picked up a lot of lessons. But then we never gave up. We said to ourselves that India is waiting and we will be back.
Every day we’ve been dreaming how far we could go; what all we could do and how all we could touch lives. We don’t know how you relate to this, but for us it has been something serious. It wasn’t just a win or loss game for us. We played it like life or death. In this game we only had the entry. We said to ourselves there is no exit in this game. No matter what happens. Even if the whole world is with us, or against us, we said to ourselves that with or without anyone we will win and we will only win. There were two options. One was to win and the other one was also to win. So either way we chose to win. We started our journey.
It is of immense satisfaction that we have assisted and funded two students from these places to join MBBS. How great would the student feel who till the recent past had no idea on what he would do next? We finally made it possible. The mission has just started and would grow by each passing day.
Meanwhile, we made sure that we spend so much time at these places. We visit these places on our Birthdays; we also advice our friends to follow the suit. It was during sometime in May.2012 one of our friend Mr.Prasanna celebrated his Birthday with these children.
Finally, our long term planning and idea of starting computer classes at these places got realized on 01.07.2012. Undoubtedly, it is a day that I and Shiv will cherish for years to come. Our project “E-Shiksha” was finally started and we had a tutor Mr.Karthik Kumar a volunteer of Sixth Sense Foundation who works at Infosys, Pune.
We were able to see the children curious to learn about the computers. Shiv made sure that we sponsor two computers to Bharat Mata Bhavan and he finally arranged it with great difficult. Many of the children had seen the computers for the first time in their life that day!! These children had computer subject in their schools but were learning Theory, Theory and only Theory. They were interested to learn about the computers. The yearning was visible when we taught them about the hardware parts of the computer that day. Also, we had to put our heads on shame about our educational system when those children did know the names of various parts of the computer but were unable to identify them. We made sure that we teach them computers every Sunday from this day to make them E-literate. The schedule and syllabus for the E-Shiksha project is ready and the classes will continue till April.2013 for the present academic year. Around 25 volunteers would handle the sessions throughout the year. This mission would continue!!
We express our heartfelt gratitude to all our sponsors, donors and partners for their continued support and to our children for their constant yearning to learn more and know more. We are highly indebted to each and every contributor and volunteer of Nationalist Group of Tweeples & Sixth Sense Foundation for their continued, consistent and untiring efforts.
I assure that Nationalist Group of Tweeple will reach leaps and bounds in the days to come. As a team we will always win!!!
Thank you everyone.
